A study of Texas drivers finds those with long commutes are less healthy

As of the 2009 U.S. Census the average American commute was about 25 minutes, with 7.5 percent of Americans traveling 1 hour or more to and from work.� An increase in commute times has paralleled the movement of people from urban to suburban areas since the 1950s. It also has mirrored a rise in obesity and other related health problems.� A new study (see cite) in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine investigates whether there’s any link between longer commutes and health obesity.� The study collected data on 4,297 commuting adults who had a comprehensive medical examination between 2000 and 2007 and lived in one of 12 Texas metropolitan counties [...]
