A POLICE officer will be popping in to Avon & Somerset's police HQ after setting off on a 3,000-mile journey around Britain.
During the ten-day trip, Grampian Police officer Mark Robinson will visit all 51 force headquarters, including Portishead, on a motorbike to raise money for injured troops.
He plans to collect "donations" from every Scottish, English and Welsh force in the form of a crest, which will then be auctioned off.
The money collected will be given to Commando 999, which raises funds for the Royal Marine Association.
Mr Robinson, 48, left his base at Grampian Police headquarters in Aberdeen earlier this week.
His journey will finish at Metropolitan Police headquarters at New Scotland Yard, where he will meet Met Police Chief Inspector and former Royal Marine Mark Scoular as well as charity ambassador Lorraine Kelly.
PC Robinson said: "As police officers, we do have a dangerous job but not normally one which puts our lives in danger on a daily basis. I say goodbye to my family each day, knowing I'll be home after work. The Royal Marines don't have that privilege. Their courage in saying goodbye to their families at the start of each deployment, unsure if they will return home, is awe-inspiring.
"The charitable work of Commando 999 offers these brave men some assurance that they and their families will be looked after should the worst happen."
