The highlights video below from the D10 conference features a conversation with Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios president Ed Catmull. Catmull discusses the beginnings of Pixar and some of the secrets to its continued success.
He says, "Our goal [with Toy Story] was to make a good movie. For a lot of people, their goal was to demonstrate the technology. We had competitors at the time, but they were focused on solving the technical problems and solving them became the goal. I think one of the things that differentiated us in the beginning -- which we then worked hard to maintain -- is the technology is not the goal. It really is to make a great movie. But there's something about the infusion of the technology into the artistic process which enriches both." (via AllThingsD)
